Quirk Law Santa Barbara Community Scholarship Overview The Quirk Law Santa Barbara Community Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors from Santa Barbara County who plan to begin college in the upcoming fall semester. Who is eligible - Must be a graduating high school senior. - Must reside in Santa Barbara County, California. - Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. - Must be enrolling in college in the fall. - Must submit an original essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt below. - Essays generated or substantially written by artificial intelligence will be disqualified. Essay prompt Many personal injury claims stem from someone having a responsibility to protect others and failing to do so — known as a duty of care. For example, motorists are expected to obey traffic laws; when they don’t, collisions and serious injuries can result. Describe other circumstances in which a person or organization holds a duty of care to protect others. What are the consequences when that duty is neglected? Award and notification One recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship (one-time, nonrenewable). The funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university admissions or financial office. The selected winner will be contacted in July 2026, and scholarship recipients will be listed on this webpage.
