Overview
This scholarship is funded by the efforts of our volunteers and the proceeds from the Camp Lejeune Thrift Store. Its purpose is to offer financial support to family members of active duty, retired, or deceased members of the United States Armed Forces.
Who may apply
- Dependent son or daughter of an active duty, retired, or deceased U.S. service member. Dependents must be either a graduating high school senior or a currently enrolled full‑time college or graduate student at an accredited institution. The parent of the dependent must reside in Onslow County (no exceptions).
- Spouse of an active duty, retired, or deceased U.S. service member, provided the spouse resides in Onslow County.
- Proof of Onslow County residency is required (for example, a current utility bill).
- A current, valid copy of the applicant’s military ID card must be included. Expired ID cards are not acceptable.
Enrollment requirement
Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited academic or technical institution for Fall 2026, or for the Spring or Summer terms of 2027.
Ineligible applicants
Those who already receive a full scholarship, are covered by Chapter 35 benefits, have an appointment to a Service Academy, or hold an ROTC scholarship will not be considered.
Application packet and submission rules
- The application must include the complete four-part application packet along with all current supporting documentation. The full packet must accompany the mailed application.
- Incomplete applications or packets missing any required part will be disqualified.
- Applications must be mailed and postmarked no later than Friday, April 10, 2026. Any application postmarked after that date will be automatically disqualified.
- A current phone number and email address must be provided on the application.
- Recipients will be notified in writing by no later than Friday, May 22, 2026.
- All award funds will be forwarded directly to the college financial aid office. If your school choice changes after award notification, it is your responsibility to inform us immediately; failure to do so may delay processing of the award.

Please review your packet carefully to ensure every required question is answered and all necessary signatures and documents are included. Missing items or failure to follow the stated requirements will result in disqualification.
