AGC NYS Diesel Scholarships

Introduction
AGC awards two to three scholarships each year for students pursuing Diesel Technology, with amounts generally ranging from $1,500 to $2,500. Scholarships are awarded only to students who remain full-time Diesel Technology majors and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
Key dates and submission
- Application deadline: the first Friday in May (online submission required).
- If you begin the online application but do not finish, the system will email you a link so you can resume where you left off.
- Finalists will be notified in June 2026.
- One-half of the scholarship is disbursed in August and the remaining half in December.
- Scholarship recipients must submit Spring 2026 semester grades by October 1, 2027; failure to provide these may lead to disqualification and repayment of funds.
Who is eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 undergraduate credit hours).
- Be in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of a two- or four-year postsecondary program.
- Be seriously committed to a career in the construction equipment industry.
- Be pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree specifically in diesel technology.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a documented permanent resident.
- Be a resident of New York State (attendance at an out-of-state school is permitted).
Application requirements
A complete submission includes:
1. The fully completed online application.
2. Three evaluation forms (these may come from any mix of college faculty or academic advisors, employers, or other adult references not related to the applicant; industry-related references are preferred).
3. An official transcript showing all college coursework to date. Note: transcripts printed or downloaded from the web are not considered official. Applicants with a cumulative GPA below 2.50 will not be considered. (Most applicants are expected to have Fall 2025 as their most recent grades.)
Selection and award
- Scholarships are reviewed and awarded by the Selection Committee of the AGC Scholarship & Student Chapters Committee. The committee evaluates applicants based on interest in the construction industry, academic record, extracurricular involvement, work experience, and evaluator comments.
- Scholarship amounts may be up to $2,500 per student per year (within the $1,500–$2,500 range). All awards remain contingent on the recipient maintaining a 2.50 GPA and full-time enrollment in a diesel technology major.
