GSK Opportunity Scholarship

Overview
The GSK Opportunity Scholarship awards annual grants of up to $5,000 to residents of the Triangle (Chatham, Orange, Wake, or Durham counties) who have shown resilience in the face of hardship and a strong commitment to advancing their education or training. Awards are renewable for up to three additional years, for a maximum total of $20,000 per recipient.
Award Amount and Authorized Uses
- Maximum award: $5,000 per year; renewable for up to four years (total maximum $20,000).
- Funds may be applied to any expense included in the enrolling institution’s cost of attendance. Recipients are responsible for any other charges not covered by the scholarship.
- Payments are distributed annually. Continued funding requires maintaining satisfactory academic standing and submitting semester progress reports as requested.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5
- Residency: Must live in Chatham, Durham, Orange, or Wake County
- High school background: No restrictions based on which high school you attended
- Plan of study: Must be attending or intending to attend a public college or university in North Carolina. Any degree program is acceptable.
