Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship Fund — overview
The Beerstecher family established the Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship Fund to honor Carol’s dedication, enthusiasm, and lifelong commitment to nursing. The fund’s purpose is to help aspiring nurses who share Carol’s passion but lack sufficient financial resources to pursue their education.
Award amount and permitted use
- Maximum award: up to $10,000 total.
- Disbursement: up to $5,000 per year, paid annually for a maximum of two years.
- Allowed expenses: funds may be applied to any item included in the school’s total cost of attendance. Recipients remain responsible for any other institutional charges not covered by the scholarship.
- Continued funding requires the student to remain in good academic standing and to submit semester progress reports.
Eligibility requirements
To qualify for this scholarship applicants must meet all of the following:
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.0
- Residency: must be a resident of Durham, Orange, Chatham, Wake, or Person County (North Carolina)
- High school: no restrictions based on which high school was attended
- Program of study: must be admitted to an undergraduate nursing program located in North Carolina

After logging into the application portal you will complete an eligibility quiz; the system will then display every scholarship for which you qualify and present their specific questions.
