Scholarship Sponsored by Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST)

Value: $1,500.00
Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Apr 30, 2026

Purpose
The Southern California Member Chapter scholarships are intended to recognize and support an AIST Southern California Member Chapter high school senior or college undergraduate by providing financial assistance while they attend an accredited college or university, either full- or part-time. Two distinct awards are offered: the AIST Member Scholarship and the Engineering Scholarship.

Award Amount
Each year two scholarships will be granted, each valued at US$1,500.

Who May Apply
- Member Scholarship: Open to an active AIST Southern California Chapter member or to the member’s child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or spouse. Eligible applicants must be attending a college or university in—or residing within—the geographic area served by the Southern California Chapter. Applicants must be accepted into an approved full- or part-time program at an accredited college or university.
- Engineering Scholarship: Intended for students preparing for careers in engineering, the sciences, or other fields connected to iron and steel production. Eligibility is limited to children, stepchildren, grandchildren, or spouses of active Southern California Chapter members, or to AIST student members participating via the Material Advantage Student Program, provided they attend a university in or live in the chapter’s area. Applicants must be accepted into an approved full- or part-time program at an accredited college or university.

Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated by the Executive Board of the Southern California Chapter. Selection is made without consideration of financial need.

Conditions and Requirements
1. Scholarship funds must be applied toward attendance at an accredited college or university.
2. The recipient must begin the course of study in the fall term of the same year the scholarship is awarded. Eligible recipients may be undergraduate students at the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior level, or enrolled in a graduate program.
3. Applicants for the Engineering Scholarship must be enrolled in an engineering discipline.
4. Applicants for the Member Scholarship must be the child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or spouse of an AIST member, or an AIST/Material Advantage member themselves, and must attend a university or reside within the chapter area.
5. The AIST Foundation will send the scholarship payment as a single lump sum to the recipient’s college or university to be deposited into the student’s account.
6. If a recipient’s admission or enrollment is delayed or interrupted for any reason, the Chapter Secretary must be notified immediately. Failure to do so could result in forfeiture of the award.
