The scholarship program of the Sonoma County Fish and Wildlife Commission is established to offer substantial support and public acknowledgment to students who excel academically or contribute significantly to the community. The program is specifically for students pursuing studies in environmental restoration, natural resource management, and/or preservation.
Up to six (6) scholarships will be granted to deserving students from Sonoma County.
- The Commissioner Al Gerhardt Memorial Scholarship: $3,000.00 (one scholarship available)
- The Commissioner Al Ferris Memorial Scholarship: $3,000.00 (one scholarship available)2025
- The General FWC Scholarship: $2,000.00 (up to four scholarships available)
Criteria for Eligibility
- Must be a resident of Sonoma County
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a course related to botany, zoology, environmental science, marine science, resource management, natural science, wildlife conservation, resource conservation/restoration, fisheries or other biology, or oceanography at a college campus
- Must be a student currently enrolled from high school senior up to graduate school
Requirements for Application
- Submission of a completed scholarship application form
- Submission of the school transcript for the previous academic year
- Submission of two recommendation letters
