Overview
The Adam Charles Ports (ACP) Foundation provides substantial scholarships to support the college or vocational education of students who have trained in martial arts. Individual awards start at $1,000. Since the Foundation began, it has granted a total of $768,000 in scholarships. In 2024 the ACP Foundation funded 22 scholarships, distributing $87,000—our gratitude goes out to the donors and sponsors who made this possible.

Important dates
- Application deadline for the 2025–2026 academic year: July 31, 2025
- Scholarship awards announced: October 2025
- Funds distributed to schools: during the winter quarter/semester in time to cover spring tuition

Who is eligible
To qualify for the ACP Foundation College Scholarship you must:
- Have completed a minimum of one year of training in any style of martial arts.
- Be an Ohio resident, or be an undergraduate student who lists a permanent address in Ohio and is currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning.
- Provide every item required on the Scholarship Application Checklist.

How applications are evaluated
Selection is based on the following:
- A recommendation from your martial arts instructor
- A personal statement (one page)
- An essay (2–3 pages, double-spaced) on the topic shown on the application
- Documentation of martial arts accomplishments

Application and submission details
- Complete both sides of the Scholarship Application Form (this is a two-sided document).
- Include all supporting materials listed below. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
- Submit the finished application package by July 31, 2025.

Scholarship award disbursement
- Recipients will be notified in October 2025.
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient’s college, university, or vocational school.
- Before funds are released, the ACP Foundation will require the scholarship recipient’s Social Security number and student ID number.
- Disbursement occurs during the winter quarter or semester so funds are available for spring tuition.

Scholarship Application Checklist (items to include)
- Completed Scholarship Application Form (both sides)
- Proof of enrollment: an official acceptance letter OR a current course registration list for the next term
- Letter of recommendation from your martial arts instructor
- Personal statement: one page about yourself
- Essay: 2–3 pages, double-spaced, addressing the topic on the application
- This completed checklist
