Beaufort County Farm Bureau Scholarship — Overview
Each year the Beaufort County Farm Bureau awards a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified student pursuing a degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related field. This program exists to help members of Beaufort County Farm Bureau families offset educational costs and to encourage the development of knowledge, skills, and leadership for future roles in agriculture, civic life, and public service.
Who is eligible
- Applicants must be members of a Beaufort County Farm Bureau family. (For membership information, call the county office at 522-0031.)
- The award is open to graduating high school seniors and to college students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in agricultural or ag-related majors. Recipients may reapply; the scholarship can be renewed for one or more additional years if reapplication is approved.
- Funds will be applied toward tuition, required textbooks, and lab fees at an accredited two- or four-year college or an accredited graduate institution.
- Applicants must have and maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. A certified copy of the applicant’s most recent transcript must be submitted with the application.
Selection criteria and process
Recipients are chosen based on character, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to agriculture or related fields. A selection committee from another South Carolina Farm Bureau county will make the award in accordance with guidelines established by the Beaufort County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Only applicants who meet the stated eligibility requirements will be considered, and the committee’s decision is final.
