R Flake Shaw Scholarship

Introduction
Since 1967, the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship program has provided more than $3,000,000 in financial support to students preparing for careers in agriculture. NC Farm Bureau views helping the next generation access higher education as an investment in the industry and an important part of its mission.
Scholarship Awards
- University-level scholarships: Eight awards, each worth $5,000 per year for up to four years (maximum $20,000 per recipient).
- Community college scholarships: Four awards, each worth $1,000 per year for up to two years (maximum $2,000 per recipient).
Eligibility
Scholarships are intended for rising college freshmen who demonstrate all of the following:
- Plans to pursue a career in agriculture or an agricultural-related field
- Satisfactory academic performance
- A clear understanding of agriculture and/or agribusiness
- Leadership potential
Preference will be given to North Carolina Farm Bureau members.
Application Requirements and Process
- Deadline: Completed electronic applications must be submitted on or before March 2, 2026.
- Submission method: Only online applications will be accepted. Paper or emailed applications will not be considered.
- Worksheets: Worksheets are provided to help you prepare your responses, but they cannot be submitted in place of the online application.
- Only information entered on the official application will be used in the selection process. Supplemental attachments may be reviewed but will not be used as the basis for final decisions.
- Required uploads: Copy of your transcript and FAFSA Summary must be uploaded with the application.
