WWGF Foundation Scholarships

Introduction
The Women’s Western Golf Foundation (WWGF) was created in 1971 by the Women’s Western Golf Association to encourage greater female involvement in golf and to support deserving undergraduate women through scholarship assistance.

History and purpose
Also in 1971, the WWGF established a charitable trust to collect and distribute funds aimed at promoting women’s academic success and strengthening intercollegiate women’s golf programs by:
- Awarding academic scholarships to deserving female students who are involved in golf (note: golfing skill or competitive excellence is not a selection requirement).
- Providing financial support to colleges and universities that have underfunded women’s golf programs.

Eligibility
Applicants for a Women’s Western Scholarship must be female high school seniors and meet all of the following criteria:
- Active participant in golf (playing ability is not a basis for selection)
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrated exceptional character, integrity, and leadership
- Demonstrated financial need to attend a four‑year college in the United States

Award amount
Each Women’s Western Scholarship is valued at $20,000 and will be disbursed over the recipient’s four years of undergraduate study.

Number of awards
For the current year, up to 20 outstanding young women will receive scholarships.
