Dam Safety Scholarship Program

Introduction
The ASDSO Dam Safety Scholarship Program, created in 1992, supports the development of technically skilled professionals needed to meet the Association’s mission. Since its inception, ASDSO has awarded more than 50 scholarships totaling over $280,000 (as of 2025). ASDSO is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 Undergraduate Scholarship Program.
Who is eligible
- U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
- Full-time undergraduate students enrolled as juniors or seniors during the 2025/2026 academic year in an accredited civil engineering program or another field ASDSO deems related.
- Students must show interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnical engineering, or another discipline related to the design, construction, and operation of dams.
- Students who plan to graduate in May or December 2026 or in May or December 2027 are eligible for the 2026 scholarship.
Award details
- At least one scholarship will be awarded.
- Up to $20,000 in scholarship funds are available.
- In addition to the scholarship, a travel stipend to attend the ASDSO Annual Conference may be provided.

- Academic achievement (minimum cumulative GPA 2.5 required)
- Financial need
- Relevant work experience
- Extracurricular and volunteer activities
- Essay
Application requirements
A complete submission must include:
- The completed application form
- Three letters of recommendation
- A personal essay
- An official academic transcript
