For thirty years donors have supported higher education for students in Erie County, Ohio, by establishing scholarship funds. Although educational programs have changed with time, our donors’ dedication to helping students remains constant.
Deadlines
- Universal Application (covers 40+ scholarships): submit by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 1.
- September 30: Six Flags Associates, RAAM, and Maintenance Scholarships.
- November 10: Harry DeLapp Scholarship.
- February 1: Ohio Athletic Committee Scholarship.
Eligibility
- Residency: Specific residency requirements differ by scholarship. Check the criteria for each award you plan to apply for.
- Enrollment: Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary undergraduate study, enrolled full time in a degree program at an accredited, nonprofit U.S. college, community college, or vocational/trade school.
- GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required unless a particular scholarship specifies a higher standard.
Application materials and requirements
- Transcripts: Provide official transcripts issued by your college bursar’s office or your high school guidance office.
- FAFSA: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and upload your Student Aid Report (SAR).
- Interview: The Erie County Community Foundation Scholarship Committee may invite applicants to participate in interviews during the selection process.
Selection and timeline
- The Foundation’s Board of Directors makes final scholarship decisions in April.
- Renewal notices: In January, the Erie County Community Foundation will contact students who may be eligible for scholarship renewals. Even if a scholarship is renewable, you must reapply every year. Renewals are competitive and not guaranteed; the committee determines renewal awards and amounts.
Awards
- Scholarship disbursements are sent directly to accredited post-secondary institutions. Funds will not be paid to recipients or to campus bookstores.

- All scholarship applications are available through the Foundation’s online portal. Review each scholarship’s specific requirements before submitting.
