Up to $5,000.

History and Purpose
Created in 2001 from the trust of Mrs. Hazel Reed Baumeister, a longtime Burlingame resident, this award honors her legacy. Mrs. Baumeister, who attended business school, served from 1933 to 1939 as confidential executive secretary to U.S. Senator Pat McCarran of Nevada. The scholarship’s intent is to help academically strong high school graduates who would not be able to continue their education without financial support.

Selection Considerations
The committee evaluates candidates based on academic potential, evidence of sustained effort and achievement in activities beyond the classroom, the strength of the personal statement, and personal qualities such as honesty, sound judgment, and a dedication to community service.

Eligibility
- Demonstrated community involvement maintained over several years
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Evidence of financial need
- Graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school located in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County
- Intending to enroll or already enrolled full time at a four-year college or university
