Introduction
Below are the eligibility rules and application requirements for each scholarship category. All programs apply to students at accredited four-year colleges/universities and accredited two-year community colleges or technical schools, unless otherwise noted.
Category I — Financial Need (Undergraduate only)
- Eligible institutions: accredited four-year universities/colleges and accredited two-year community colleges/technical schools.
- Selection criteria: academic achievement combined with demonstrated financial need.
- Enrollment requirement: applicant must be either enrolled full-time or have an active application to one of the institutions above. Funds will be disbursed only after full-time enrollment is confirmed.
- Financial documentation: submit a copy of the FAFSA showing the Student Aid Index. Federal tax return forms (IRS Form 1040) will not be accepted.
Category II — Merit (Undergraduate only)
- Eligible institutions: accredited four-year universities/colleges and accredited two-year community colleges/technical schools.
- Selection criteria: based solely on academic merit; financial need is not considered.
- Enrollment requirement: applicant must be enrolled full-time or have applied to an eligible institution.
Category III — Members Only (Undergraduate and Graduate, part-time study)
- Eligible institutions: accredited four-year colleges/universities and accredited two-year community colleges/technical schools.
- Recipient eligibility: available to active and associate SEANC members who are employed full-time and wish to pursue further education on a part-time basis.
- Enrollment requirement: applicants must be enrolled prior to funds being issued.
- Minimum course loads: undergraduate students must take at least six credit hours per semester; graduate students must take at least three credit hours per semester.
- Application deadline: the completed application must be postmarked by April 15 and mailed to the SEANC member’s district.
Retiree Grandchild — Category I (Financial Need)
- Eligible institutions: accredited four-year colleges/universities and accredited two-year community colleges/technical schools.
- Selection criteria: determined by academic performance and financial need.
- Enrollment requirement: applicant must be enrolled full-time before any funds are disbursed.
- Financial documentation: submit a copy of the FAFSA with the Student Aid Index.
Retiree Grandchild — Category II (Merit)
- Eligible institutions: accredited four-year colleges/universities and accredited two-year community colleges/technical schools.
- Selection criteria: based on academic merit without consideration of financial need.
- Enrollment requirement: applicant must be enrolled full-time before funds are disbursed.
